The Six-Month Lunar Cycle
Written on September 7, 2026
If you’ve been setting intentions at every New Moon expecting them to come to fruition two weeks later at the Full Moon within the same lunar cycle, I’m about to challenge you on that.
I know the moon quite well. Better than most, I can confidently say.
I am a Human Design Reflector (a rare 1% of the population.) My entire energy system is literally hard-wired to mirror the moon.
I was born on a Monday - ruled by the Moon.
I have spent over a decade tracking the Moon and myself within her cycles.
In my world, we do not set intentions on a New Moon and expect them to come to fruition two weeks later. We play the long game. Intentions are set on a New Moon and revisited six months later when we have a Full Moon in the same sign.
For example, we have the New Moon in Virgo on September 10, 2026. When the Full Moon in Virgo arrives on February 20, 2027, that's when I'd look for the culmination of what began under the September New Moon.
We are not expecting results on the Full Moon in Aries on September 26, 2026 (this would be the two-weeks later Full Moon.) For this specific Full Moon, we’d be looking back to the intentions we set under the New Moon in Aries on April 17, 2026 and looking at what has developed since then.
Are you seeing the pattern? For a New Moon, your intended results are six months ahead. At a Full Moon, you want to look six months back to the intentions set and decide what results have been produced.
Some things just take time. Anything that gives long-term, quality results takes time. I know we live in an immediate gratification world, but the earth and the moon and the planets and the entire universe operate in their o w n s w e e t t i m e.
Of course the intentions you set are not only dependent on time alone, they are dependent on your consistent actions. Setting intentions under a New Moon is not like making a wish to a genie in a bottle. You still have to put in your own work in the process. Plus a dose of consistency, and a dose of patience.
My personal experience of these New Moon intentions coming to fruition isn’t always as tangible as a check in my hand. Much of the time I will have an intellectual knowing or intuitive nudge about something around the New Moon that has become fully embodied six months later at the Full Moon. Put more simply, what my mind believes is true under a New Moon, my body actually agrees with six months later. And if you’re reading this, you probably already understand the difference in what’s true in your mind and what’s true in your body.
I’ll give you a specific example. I have a very intense Scorpio 12th house with Uranus at 0 degrees and Mars at 29 degrees. This has given me a very specific 12th house mission as a generational cycle breaker and I have been doing this work very intentionally for several years. We had a New Moon in Scorpio at 28 degrees sitting right next to my Mars on November 20, 2025. I had a general, intuitive knowing that this was marking the end of the significant portion of my life that had been dedicated to breaking these generational cycles. Not that I was done with this work forever, just that it was largely complete and this New Moon was marking the end. By the time the Full Moon in Scorpio rolled around on May 1, 2026, I knew in my body that cycle was complete for me. I was ready to fully move into a period of life that was 1st house-centered because my 12th house mission was complete. My body agreed with this in May. My body wasn’t sure six months prior.
Whether it’s more concrete tangible results or just a knowing that moves from your mind to your body, the moon wants six months to make this happen for you… not two weeks.
Also keep in mind that these six month cycles are constantly going and overlapping each other.
Do not let this overwhelm you. There’s actually a tremendous amount going on in the sky all the time. Transits are occurring constantly as you live your life, whether you’re aware of them or not. It’s just part of life on earth.
The best way to handle this is to focus on your daily lunar tracking. This is a process of making note of the sign of the moon each day and taking some notes on how you are feeling physically, mentally, and emotionally. It’s a bit more involved than only looking at the New Moon and Full Moon, but it’s the fastest and easiest way I’ve found to understand yourself through the lens of your birth chart. It keeps your focus on the now-moment. I’ve been doing this myself for over a decade.
When a New Moon rolls around, write down your intentions and your intuitive nudges. When a Full Moon rolls around, look back at what intentions you set six months prior. If you find yourself getting overwhelmed with too many transits of any kind, come back to today.
Yesterday is gone, but we can still look to the past to understand our own patterns more deeply.
Tomorrow isn’t here, but we can use our observed patterns to understand how an upcoming lunar transit might meet us.
Today is where our main focus belongs. If yesterday is gone and tomorrow does not yet exist, then today is the only day that we get to make conscious choices.
